14"x18" Pastel on Wallis paper
Here is a recent still life that was a lot of fun to paint. I had been drawing from my two favorite models lately (I will get around to photographing some drawings soon and post them all at once) while waiting for the Maine weather to get better so I can go outside and paint, but the Maine weather does not seem to want to cooperate, so I painted the above still life. I have to confess... I don't know a "Joey", I just thought that the name was good for a little boy, and, more importantly, it fit on the bag.

"Afternoon Sketch"
16"x12" Pastel on Wallis paper
Here is the 3rd pastel in my figure studies. The model once again is Kelsey. I was having her twist and turn, and changing her pose and I would yell "Stop" and have her hold that pose for the next 25 minutes. This pose was going so well, that I decided to work on it for the rest of the afternoon, using as colorful pastels as I dare. This one is my favorite so far!

"Kelsey's Back"
8"x10" pastel on Wallis paper
This is the first painting in what I hope will be a long list of many figure paintings, The model is Kelsey who has been modeling for me for some time now She was the first model who joined me in my new adventure to take a break from landscape painting and concentrate on the human figure. I am sure that you will see many more figure studies and drawings of her in the future.
